Music is stuck in my head

for some reason, the pieces we study in music 2 in class each week somehow remain in my head throughout the week until the following week when another piece is introduced...this is reallly anoying considering how we do get one composition task per week =S ok, i was told not to procrstinate anymore so short posts = less procrastination? *nodnod*

goodbye~

mornings..

Monday mornings..i absolutely hate them =( but then who doesn't...i wanna go back to sleep now...

Anti-productive day + music, my life #2

Ever since th ecompletion of my english extension practice essay, i havnt done any work...not good and i've been just youtubing things and reading articles and what not...i am seriously gunna fail if i keep this up and i cant risk failing because theres too much at stake based on the half yearlies =S

nownow, this is part of my procrastination which i will share with you...more amazingness of Victor Borge =)

okay that should take up 8 minutes of your life =D hehehe =)
bye~

One down...one more to go =/

okay, so as of last night... my extension practise essay is now complete... its dodgy and its considerably longer than what I'd prefer, but I seriously don't have the motivation to rewrite it for the fourth time so I'm leaving it at that ><"

hmm, ohh and on Friday night at bball I had looooottts of fun xD I ran down this kid on the other team who was a head a half taller who apparently could dunk....ehehe, but I stopped that..ofc, I ended up getting sent off too for that...oooops! but it was fun xD

church time~

March 25, 2011

sick-ish

why am I weak this year? I think its the second time this year that I getting symptoms of colds =.= and like in the past the worst I ever got was the odd morning asthmatic cough induced by the cold temperatures of the morning...

oh wells...oh and earlier today I decided that until I finish my two practice essays for English, fb is banned =) no more procrastination especially when I now have my essay structure constructed...

ok, off to ball, ta~

March 24, 2011

English Ext =D

okay change of plan, i shall leave music composition till weekends =/ (more procrastination, ooopsies) BBBUUTTTT, i will do english extension essay all over again because after a very awesome friend submitted my very awesome essay from last year to some site in a trade for another one of high relevance...i just got a burst of motivation to complete my english ext essay, even though it means i must start from scratch again for the third time now =S

off to hardcore english =D

Procrastination is....

bad =(

due to my prolonged procrastination, I now have two practise essays to complete, notes to make, truong test to study for, truong hw to do, music composition task to begin and complete, a music portfolio to complete and polish and many hours of piano to catch up on...

I blame those arvo naps...

but thanks to glenwood high and arthur phillip high, I have earned myself two afternoons in the past weeks and also a free entry into the third round of K/O vball (and a free sport merit stamp) YAAAAY! =D

nownow, before I ramble further... music composition time =) bye~

Music...my life #1

ohkay, short short short post today =)

if you remeber a while ago, i posted a youtube video of a hilarious duet (if you havnt watched it, please do) anyways, the guy in the red pant is Victor Borge, his occupation....what i like to call a musician comedian (if you watched it you'll understand why =) anyways, i remember some very nice quotes from him.

"Look at a symphony concert on TV and turn off the sound. If you have the slightest sense of humour, you will laugh yourself silly - the musicians look and act absolutely ridiculous."

"Everybody who has ever tried to have a page turner knows it is terribly dangerous" <== I believe Daniel Kim can remember Music Nights last year =.= thanks to our "awesome" page turners =)

ok, this is one horrible post that wont make sense to many people, but as you can see I numbered this so i will gradually introduce you all to one of my favourite performers through manymany youtube vids and more amusing facts about him =D alternatively you can search him up on youtube and enjoy =)

have fun~

Today...

today:
- was a rather nice day =)

- started with orchestra...that was rather nice (when compared to last week, it was much better)...thoughhh...my oboe has become disfunctional again because sometime during my vigorous practising during the week, i managed to split the other half of my reed (i'll explain the workings of a double reed in the future) so now producing anyform of sound is literally impossible but then I got to 'temporarily substitute it with my flute meaning i could play most of the notes xD though, it was also at this mornings rehearsal that I realised how longs its been since I last played my flute...but its nice to play it again =) and so orchestra morning sounded very...complete cos all the parts became audible =)

- had the following timetable:
=>double maths...which is becoming one of those 'i don't mind' subjects now so that was no detriment to my day...

=>double physics x( that was average until i got my prac report back =) and again my theory that the discussion is directly proportional to the mark you get was proven right =) with another 'A' but Ms Chin decided that because I now "understand" what is required in a prac report, she'll only give me merits for every second 'A' now =/ grrrr.....

=>double english extension =) that was rather bludgey, Cowgill wasnt there and instead we had the phantasmagorical Mr Big Smith =D that was quite an interesting lesson where no not much work was done =)

=>music =D i was supposed to finish my composition task today but then I wasnt in my composition mood so i proceeded to distract people instead and that proved rather amusing too =)

=>chem =) that was nice, we completed the prac from yesterday and our results/discussion/conclusion/whatever else became a sheet that awesome Mr Vasram handed out and got glued into prac book...so mental effort was not required in that period too =)

===> so overall it was a rather nice day at school considering how i didnt get much sleep =/

- at english tutor, i finally grasped what I was writing in English Ext...so now I think I might take back my statement from the previous post and possibly begin writing an essay =D

- is Portia's birthday =) Happy Birthday! =D

heres a little something for you =) if i had time, i'd make one but i dont, sorry! but i'll make up for it someday in the distant future =) ohh and i swear there's supposed to be an instruction manual for that camera =S

english sucks

today, the english ext essay practise question decided to magically appear on moodle and apparently it will be due on tuesday week....so i decided that i will screw the practise essay and most like build a point structure plan thingo and ask cowgill if my points are satisfactory and probably leave it at that in terms of school-marking...then in the holidays i will dedicate several 30-40 minute periods of time to 'mock' exams where I will use my numerous practise questions from my wonderful tutor and practise adapting my plan to the essays under a time limit then getting my tutor to go through my essays. =D So tomorrow I must remember to ask my tutor to give me questions in a way so that i cannot cheat...maybe I'll bring envelopes =D and she could put one question in each envelope =) that sounds good...i think that's exactly what I'll do! =)

heres another of those interesting facts that i tend to find and remember for no particular reason:
according to NASA scientists, the recent 8.9 (or as some say 9.0) magnitude earthquake in Japan on the 11th March shortened our Earth's day permanently by 1.8 millionths of a second per day. The earthquake caused the Earth to spin faster than it had been previously and hence our day is slightly shorter. Ok so that doesnt really make much sense...but here's a picture you can imagine and possible experiment in your own time. Imagine a spinning figure skater, when her arms are stretched out she spins at a slower speed, as she pulls her arms in she speeds up. You could try this on like those spinny playground things...anyway, the Earth is like that too...when the mass of the Earth is centred more onto its axis of rotation, Earth itself spins faster... In other words, the earthquake rearranged the mass of the Earth, bringing more mass to the rotational axis causing the Earth to spin faster and days shortened (considering how Japan's global positioning station were shifted east proportionally to the rest of the world by almost 4 metres at several locations, it all sounds possible =/ ).

time to shuddup now~

My English Short Story =.=

Oh, and i just remembered that i was supposed to post my short story up...the one that had three comments and two of which were unconstructive and stupid comments...yhh here it is... (oh, the pencil writing didn't turn up after scanning so i had to go over it =) all the stuff in red are the pencil comments =.=") oh, and for anyone who didnt hear...apparently the Department of Ed sent out an email to all teachers to forbid the use of red pen when marking because it's 'demoralising' for student...i wonder what will happen in the future now that all the teachers are marking in pencil...

 yes that's it =)

fail englishing....><"

okay, so as of friday night, i decided to begin my various english tasks (aka essays) and yhh...i managed to write one for advanced that night but i kinda vented out a lot of emotion into that essay so now it belongs where it should...the recycle bin =) hence my work done has now become zero...that reminds me, i have to finish my physics report too =/ but anyway...i'm starting to really hate this moodle fetish the english department at baulko is having...its unreliable, slow and doesnt even function as it should...nor is it utilised to its potential despite them 'overusing' it... well anyway back to my story...i was going to write my ext essay first but then it appears that the question still hasnt been posted up on moodle as she said she would....and i believe this isnt the first time either....so guess what? stuff you moodle =)

Meet the Music #1

so last night, I went to sydney opera house along with other peeps from our awesome music class.. Mozart and Tchaikovsky were the highlights and then there was the bassoon concerto which was pretty bad other than the fact that a bassoon was playing =D ohh and throughout the night, I kept realising how pro the 2 oboe players there...=/ so as of today...i have decided I shall be committed to my practise schedule =)

ok, off to school (well, on a bus but same thing)~

March 17, 2011

stuff you weather

ok, so after present buying and failed polo hunting at parra with a certain person (who didn't say a single word to me for 2 and something hours before that) today I took a bus home and because the one that I usually take wasn't there yet, I took another route which meant I had to walk almost a km to get home.. and then the moment I got off the bus, it begins to drizzle.. two minutes later... it decided to begin pouring and here I am walking getting soaked and as I walk into my street approx 20m from my house it stops pouring and turns into a shower... then even that drizzle decided to laugh at me and stop altogether as I stepped onto my driveway.... you know, I really hate you, stupid rain! oh and did I mention, that on my way walking home, the bus I usually took drove past too =.= if only I waited for that 5 minutes... life sucks when the weather hates you =(

ohh, this was supposed to be posted last night... but evidently it didn't post... so yes read as though it were yesterday =/

March 15, 2011

school things..

actually, there aren't that many interesting school things... bit here goes..
phys... yesterday, I got my first 'A' in prac report =D ...after a streak of C's and C+'s =.= chin and her theory of 'making us strive to do better by giving everyone demoralising marks...
and english short story... that was depressing... I won't say what I got but yes its was still above average... anyway, I took it to my tutor today and she fully raged but eventually I figured she was raging at the ridiculous comments that the marker made... like "its been a month since the onset of leukaemia ripped her away" and the marker wrote 'literally?' pointing at "ripped her away" yhh, dim-witted marker, obviously they didn't realise they were marking a creative piece =.= and for the 814 words I put down, I received 20 unconstructive words for comments... talk about effort in marking... mb, I should let you all read my story and show you these comments that a yr 7 could have made...i will do that... but not today =)
well, enough ranting for now... anyway, this morning the baulko orchestra met for the first time and it actually sounded really good, so now I think i will commit myself to practising the oboe and not fail during rehearsal as I did this morning... so yes, that was very exciting and fun and enjoyable other than the fact that I now have to wake up early for Mondays and Tuesdays ><" oh wells, I'll stay committed... for the love of music =D
wellwell, I think that's all for my school ranting...
ta~

March 13, 2011

papercut =.=

its actually been a while since my last papercut but then about an hour ago...i didn't realised at there time but I somehow got papercutted whilst playing piano which is very stupid and now its bleeding again...

ohh, and I've decided to kill time in a way more productive than watching another billion episodes of gundam and other anime... folding paper stars =D because whilst in HK, I bought stacks of the paper star paper and yhhh.. now time to seriously stop procrastinating, adieu~

asian rage at maccas

for those who are asian, you would realise how asian rents rage at everything, for as long as they can and most often, regardless of the location and surroundings... well after church today, we went to the maccas down the road and yes my sister managed to piss both my mum and dad off =.= so I had to endure half an hour of asian rage... not only that, because its down the road from church, everyone kinda goes... to add to that my church is 99% asian (80% of which are canto)..><" cant you just imagine it?

nownow, piano time, laters~

March 12, 2011

I Think I'm Going Mad

well, actually I think I actually am... maybe its the tiredness that's doing it but I have begun to unintentionally talk myself without realising it.. until after I do ><" this also happened at school the other morning in roll call... that was quite silly but the luckily only two people heard so that was cool but I havnt been that lucky at home..i think my sister caught me twice since last week and rents once so far...so yhh, I think its time I slept earlier =/ or alternatively I could begin taking afternoon naps again =D
oh I also decided that I should really stop starting more new gundam series now because I should start committing myself more into maths ><" but I prolly won't do so til holidays cos yes I cbb but then again truong test in 3 weeks and I nearly failed truong hw again...whoops! oh wells...I guess I shall begin working hard on truong maths beginning this week =) school maths can come later =S
btw, I'm actually posting from my phone... well I only found out about it yesterday so a short post in case this comes out funny =/ and because I cbb proofreading, some words may come out funny due to predicative text =.=

March 9, 2011

Gundam =)

Today i officially finished all my episodes of Gundam Wing well that was yesterday or the day before...i forgotten already...but yes i finish the OVA Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz today :) so that means i have now wasted my life watching a grand total of 200+ episodes..YAY :D what a brilliant way to spend life :)

Anyways heres some more amusing things i found :) on GUNDAM :D

a 1:1 gundam model (if only it wasnt a model)... but yes its like 12 metres tall :D
inside the cockpit
amaaazing :) anyways, i should do my hw now :)

til another time~

March 7, 2011

interesting things =)

i was on yahoo today for whatever reason and up came something absolutely amaazing...
yes a floating house, just like up :) and yes its real too...but yes theres the link if you still dont believe me ==> ' "Up" House '

hmms, yes anyway today i had the most amazing piano lesson :) because i kinda realised how good my pieces sound when someone else plays them at the proper speed :/ but for some reason its amazingly hard when i play it ><" but given my recent inspiration due to the arrival of all my sheet music from HK i think i can persevere and hopefully (some day in the future) be able to play like this :S

and here's another one, continuing from an arrangement danielkim and i attempted to replicate last year but failed...one the most inspirational videos ever...
and hopefully we will actually be able to this sometime this year and blows all your minds :D

btw, that old man is victor borge (pronounced bor-ga) and he is my hero, has like incredible finger techniques and he's a musical comedian or as daniel calls him "a musical troll" but as of 2003, he's dead )': anyways, its time to conclude my short musical rant....

March 5, 2011

Ahahaha...

Through a typo, I was confronted with this comic strip which I will dedicate to a simpleton friend of mine :D

enjoy~

Afternoon Naps =)

Today marked my 16th....afternoon nap of my afternoon nap streak :) <--most of which were..unintended.

Despite what some consider it to be a waste of time, I find these naps rather beneficial
Heres why:
  1. Less Stress
  2. Increased Alertness and (in some way) Productivity
  3. Improved Memory and Learning
  4. Cardiovascular Benefits
  5. Increased Cognitive Functionings
    • In a recent study, NASA researchers showed that a 30minute power nap increased cognitive functions by approximately 40% :) But then again that same study showed that a nap longer than 45minutes had no or in some cases a reverse effect.....<--i dont like that last part..
  6. Creativity Boost
  7. Makes up for lost sleep at Night (ehehehe....)
  8. It makes you less sleepy the next day (according to NASA)
  9. Better Health (apparently it maximises your body systems)
  10. and last, I'm told its supposed to provide motivation to exercise (but i dont exactly agree...)

Oh and i also found out there are terms to describe your naps depending on how long they were ><"
  • Nano-nap - 10 to 20 seconds (i dont see the purpose of this...)
    • i dont know why this even exist...
  • Micro-nap - 2 to 5 minutes
    • its been shown to be effective to shed tiredness really quickly...i think this is what happens during class...and you somehow feel reenergised
  • Mini-nap - 5 to 20 minutes
    • its supposed to increase alertness, stamina, motor learning and motor performance
  • The 'Original' Power-nap - 20 to 50 minutes
    • includes the benefits of micro- and mini- naps, but also improves muscle memory (good for piano :D) and clears the brain of random useless built-up info which in turn helps with longterm memory
  • The Lazy Man's Nap - 50 to 90 minutes
    • includes slow-wave plus REM sleep; good for improving perceptual processing; and if your body is flooded with HGH (human growth hormones) at the time you take this nap, it repairs bones and muscles...or so they claim...
Oh, this reminds me when i kinda fell asleep at the dentist last saturday...i was half-conscious but like half dreaming/hallucinating...my leg apparently kept twitching ><" and my dentist thought i was in pain...whoooops!

    March 3, 2011

    i hate thursday :(

yhh, i really really hate thurdays..it begins with double phys..and those who know me will know how much i detest physics...but then i sit with two very amusing friends who seem to make fun of every lesson in some way or do something stupid xD but yes enough about physics...my day also concludes in a negative tone..swimming :( i hate it too...okay i'm really tired and like half falling asleep despite taking yet another arvo nap :/ so i think i shall leave it here :)

ehehe... i just noticed.... january - 1 post, february - 2 posts, and march - this is the third....

    March 2, 2011

    Wonderful English Tutor =)

i didnt have time to write again last night but yes i can now =)
so yeaa, last night i had like an amazingly productive (in some sense) lesson...it was one of those more relaxed and enjoyable lessons where my tutor and i pretty much spent the whole lesson chatting =D but of course it was relevant and in many ways inspirational too. it all began with the retelling of my short story editing the previous week...i (as always) was stuck for the most random word which appear to be easy to describe but not that easy to find that one word that fits in...anyways, I was trumped and so we decided to shove a random word which didnt exactly work and apparently at 1030, when she was 'dosing off' and the tv was still on, she heard the actor (some guy i dont know) and yeaa she apparently sprung up out of bed and called me which shocked her husband too...

but anyway, that wasnt the point of yesterday's lesson...what I actually did was present her with a stack of texts for human condition and yes we spent half the lesson kinda discussing the texts though our conversation strayed as always...eventually the choice was made and we moved onto the text of choice...spending the rest of the lesson on her iPad being rather unproductive...until she came across some random article on the Death aspect of Human Condition from a medical point of view...that was when i got some flashback from Swot Shop (yes that hole) and remembered a perfect story (though kinda simplistic but powerful)...which i cbb to describe so i will end it off and leave you to read it for yourselves =)

    "The Window" (Author unknown)
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man  was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour a day to drain the fluids from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.
The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military  service, where they had been on vacation. And every afternoon when the  man in the bed next to the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed would live for those one-hour periods where  his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and  color of the outside world. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake, the man had said. Ducks and swans played on the water while  children sailed their model boats. Lovers walked arm in arm amid flowers of every color of the rainbow. Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite  detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band, he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Unexpectedly, an alien thought entered his head: Why should hehave all the pleasure of seeing everything while I never get to see  anything? It didn't seem fair. As the thought fermented, the man felt  ashamed at first. But as the days passed and he missed seeing more sights, his envy eroded into resentment and soon turned him sour. He began to brood and found himself unable to sleep. He should be by that window - and that thought now controlled his life.

Late one night, as he lay staring at the ceiling, the man by the window  began to cough. He was choking on the fluid in his lungs. The other man watched in the dimly lit room as the struggling man by the window groped for the button to call for help. Listening from across the room, he never moved, never pushed his own button which would have brought the nurse running. In less than five minutes, the coughing and choking  stopped, along with the sound of breathing. Now, there was only silence--deathly silence.

The following morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths. When she found the lifeless body of the man by the window, she was saddened and called the hospital attendant to take it away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

    My Macau Memories

ok, so i finally found these photos of mine that washed me with memories of my very joyful youth...so the story was...we were on holiday through Macau and we were looking for St. Paul's Cathedral...well the remains of it anyway.. and yeahh, we kinda took the long way around because it would be a much longer and more interesting journey...and as we were walking I asked my mum about the time i went to make an ad in Macau which would be in like '01/'02 or something like that...but yeahhh, we had no idea of where it was so i kinda gave up...then someone (icant remeber who) needed to go to the bathroom and so we were just heading into random places to look for toilets...and BAM!

So yes upon sight, something kinda clicked but i had no idea what it was so yhh until i walked in =) and then it was these confronting images that surprised me, it brought back all my memories to the exact point of where i sat, and where i jumped out of into the screen =)

Well...i guess those are my memories...and tbh, i was actually quite disappointed with on arrival...the church was not in a prime condition but nonetheless still made me rather happy =)
