english sucks

today, the english ext essay practise question decided to magically appear on moodle and apparently it will be due on tuesday week....so i decided that i will screw the practise essay and most like build a point structure plan thingo and ask cowgill if my points are satisfactory and probably leave it at that in terms of school-marking...then in the holidays i will dedicate several 30-40 minute periods of time to 'mock' exams where I will use my numerous practise questions from my wonderful tutor and practise adapting my plan to the essays under a time limit then getting my tutor to go through my essays. =D So tomorrow I must remember to ask my tutor to give me questions in a way so that i cannot cheat...maybe I'll bring envelopes =D and she could put one question in each envelope =) that sounds good...i think that's exactly what I'll do! =)

heres another of those interesting facts that i tend to find and remember for no particular reason:
according to NASA scientists, the recent 8.9 (or as some say 9.0) magnitude earthquake in Japan on the 11th March shortened our Earth's day permanently by 1.8 millionths of a second per day. The earthquake caused the Earth to spin faster than it had been previously and hence our day is slightly shorter. Ok so that doesnt really make much sense...but here's a picture you can imagine and possible experiment in your own time. Imagine a spinning figure skater, when her arms are stretched out she spins at a slower speed, as she pulls her arms in she speeds up. You could try this on like those spinny playground things...anyway, the Earth is like that too...when the mass of the Earth is centred more onto its axis of rotation, Earth itself spins faster... In other words, the earthquake rearranged the mass of the Earth, bringing more mass to the rotational axis causing the Earth to spin faster and days shortened (considering how Japan's global positioning station were shifted east proportionally to the rest of the world by almost 4 metres at several locations, it all sounds possible =/ ).

time to shuddup now~
