surely, every single one of us have, at some point, had to made this decision whilst catching public transport, in particular the train. to give or not to give a person asking for 'spare change to buy a ticket'.
it seems to me, that this is becoming rather prevalent and is leading me to believe that the generosity of society is being exploited. the clearest example I remember is when I was a the city, when a man of retirement age, walked up and asked me for change, in exchange he offered a cigarette... from his pockets which held packets (yes PACKETS) of cigarettes...i mean, how can you not have a 'couple of dollars' as he asked for and yet have in your possession a couple packets of smokes which each costs like 10/pack. so no, no money for you old man.
but I guess sometimes, when someone walks up and appears legtimately poor, I would consider giving but its becoming a decision quite biased in the 'no' direction because its really irritating to have people bug you all the way through the station. and look, seriously instead begging for money go earn some, especially those who are of relatively young age, because you can't beg for the rest of your life, go find a job and give back to society all they have given you.
yes, I'm talking to you man in the black shirt and jeans at Fairfield >=(
