Music Lesson #1

My lessons begin here...

So in music analysis, there are 6 elements/concepts to keep in mind. They are: Pitch, Duration, Dynamics and Expressive Techniques, Texture, Structure and Tone Colour.

This series of lessons will focus on Music of the Baroque Period as that is the current topic of study.

PITCH refers to the sound of the melody, whether there is one, or multiple melodies playing, the harmonies and how the melodies and harmonies are developed in terms of tone. This includes how the melody moves and how performers/conductors interpret these movements and changes. In baroque pieces, there is usually one melody/theme, it's easy to distinguish and usually becomes a recurring theme within the entire piece. Baroque composers focused on the exploration of ideas  and techniques  through the development of that single theme rather than having multiple themes.

that concludes Lesson #1~
